The Grand Circle Tour begins and ends in Las Vegas, Nevada. We have shuttles collecting passengers from McCarran International Airport and taking them to our tour reception and cocktail party at the Downtown Grand Hotel. After the party and check-in is complete we give you the first night to rest up from your travels. We have an early day planned for the next eleven mornings so get some rest.
Breakfast is at 8:30am each morning and today is no different. We have a morning meeting and class introduction at 10:00am for about a half hour then we get everyone checkout and boarded for our first destination of Brian Head, Utah. Here we will have our fist class in photography and you will enjoy the alpine environment of this quiet resort village. Sunset can be enjoyed from Cedar Breaks National Monument or from the top of Brian Head Peak. Cocktails will be served in the lounge and this is a great chance to get to know your follow tour participants.
This day begins with 8:30am breakfast and a 10:30am class in Cedar Breaks National Monument. Along our way to Bryce Canyon National Park we make a few side stops. The first of these is the Zion Canyon overlook. This is clearly the best view of the entire National Park, and is simply breathtaking. Next we stop at Navajo Lake overlook so you can see the source of the Virgin River which carved out Zion Canyon. We will stop for a catered picnic lunch at Duck Creek Village and spend some time at Aspen Mirror Lake and along side Duck Creek. These photography opportunities are not to be missed. Dinner and our over night is at Ruby’s Inn at Bryce Canyon. Magic hour here is not to be missed.
No class this morning but breakfast is still at 8:30am. Of course we don’t mind if you want to sleep in a bit. Bryce has many opportunities to get some adventure activities in, and we encourage you to participate if you like. Trail-riding, Mountain Biking, Hiking, and of course photography. Our photo pros will be on hand to help you every step of the way. We will depart Bryce at about 4:00pm for historic Circleville, Utah the boyhood home of Butch Cassidy. Dinner will be at the famous Hideout Cafe, before we trek Northward for our overnight stop at Capitol Reef National Park.
Today begins as usual with Breakfast and Class. Over the next several hours we will explore the early mans site of Capitol Reef. We will visit the historic Mormon town of Fruita, Utah as well the amazingly beautiful Cathedral Valley. The is some opportunity to do some mountain bike touring here and for those that are big fans of this activity they should feel free to do so. Of course our photo pros are going to be working with you to get that great shot while you are here. As always lunch is on us in the form of a catered picnic in the park. We will find ourselves in Moab, Utah for the next two nights.
For the next two days we will be exploring and fine-tuning our photographic skills in Moab, Utah. Two of the best National Parks in the Grand Circle are here in this beautiful town. Our first day is spent exploring Canyonlands National Park with a side trip to Deadhorse Point State Park. Mountain Biking opportunities abound here and we highly recommend enthusiasts of this sport take advantage. There are several local tour companies here that will take you on an amazing side adventure if you so desire. However, the slot-canyon at Deadhorse is one you don’t want to miss. In the evening we have our halfway party in Moab, and we wouldn’t want you to be too tired out for this. It is always a great time. Some PhotoTourPro legends have come from this party.
Today we point our lens at Arches National Park. The icon of the State of Utah is located here in the form of Delicate Arch. Balance Rock is also on the itinerary as are the first of two goosenecks we will visit on the tour. We depart here early afternoon for Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation, but along the way we will stop at Mexican Hat and the San Juan River Goosenecks. For the last several miles into Monument valley you will see why Movie maker John ford fell in love with this land for making Westerns.
These monoliths are completely other worldly. The mittens have been captured in so many images and have appeared in numerous movie Westerns. There are some great opportunities to take a morning trail ride here and we encourage all to catch the sunrise behind the mittens. We leave here for the western boarder of the Navajo Nation for beautiful Page Arizona to watch sunset at Horseshoe Bend overlook of the Colorado River. We overnight here in Page so we can take the tour of Antelope Canyon the next day. This is a photographers paradise, and is sure to be the highlight of your vacation. From here we head West again for Zion National Park.
Today we want you to see some of the lessor known treats that Zion National Park has to offer. We will spend the morning exploring the upper East side of the park with some great chances to photograph the quiet little pools along the Many Pools Trail. We head down after this to the main body of the park where you can visit the famous Zion Canyon Narrows, or hike the Emerald Pools, spend some quiet time in the Grotto, or even climb to the top of Angels Landing. Lunch is a catered affair at the Zion Canyon Lodge. We won’t leave here until after sunset as it is not to be missed. After this full day we are back to where we started in Las Vegas.
We have a full day here of high adventure touring. Today we take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, Thrill to the beauty of Redrock Canyon, and even offer you the chance to go jump out of an airplane. Las Vegas has rollercoasters and waterparks and enough shopping to break most budgets. In the evening we are taking you to see a world class Vegas show so be ready for that. Our Dinner Farewell Party is our chance to say goodbye to the friends we have made along the way and make plans to maybe see each other on future tours.
Of course you can opt to go home today but we wanted to give you a much needed day of rest and relaxation before you go. We have paid for you to have a day at the spa getting pampered and refreshed after your whirlwind of travel. We have a bus trip out to Valley of Fire State Park if you so desire and as always lunch and dinner ore on us.
Today is dedicated to checkout and returning our guest to the airport. We hope you had a good time on you photo tour. Most of all, we hope you came away with a world class education in photography. We can’t wait to meet you and show you the best of The Grand Circle.
